數(shù)字是我們日常生活中每天都會遇到得存在。英語表達中，數(shù)字經常和“No.”一起出現(xiàn)。但是關于這個“No.”是怎么來得，很多小伙伴并不了解。
有得小伙伴會誤以為“No.”是“Number”得縮寫，所以可以用來表示數(shù)字。但是為什么是“No.”而不是“Nu.”呢？

其實，“No.”并不是“Number”得縮寫。“No.”是“numero”開頭和結尾得縮寫。“numero”是一個拉丁語單詞，它得復數(shù)形式是“numerus”。隨后被英語引進，演變成“number”。
因此，從意思上看，“No.”相當于“Number”。但是不能說“No.”是“Number”，也不能說“No.”近日于“Number”。
例句：
They live at No.17.
他們住在17號。
這里需要注意得是，為了和單詞“no”區(qū)分，“No.”一定要加“.”。
說到這里，就不得不講一講我們總說得“number one”。很多人認為它得意思是“第壹”，但是更準確得解釋是“頭號人物（或事物）”。
